Forward Thinking Forever Home, Great Paxton

Open ECO homes online tour:

Meet your host, Amy & Will

We are both passionate about the environment and wanted to create a home that reflects our commitment to protecting it for future generations. We were drawn to the history and character of the house but needed the spaces to better suit our lifestyle. Our focus was on managing key issues like heat loss, dampness, and energy efficiency while being mindful of the environment. We aimed to address these challenges by preserving and reusing materials, using natural materials where possible and installing eco tech that works for us and the environment.

β€œIt is now comfortable to be in the house at all times, with no worry about having to wear four additional layers to keep body temperatures up! The warmer, drier environment may also help our health long term.”

Blending excellent design with a sustainable lifestyle, the building and interior were guided by environmental considerations rather than aesthetic concerns. This approach allowed us to craft a visually appealing and calming home, incorporating numerous eco-friendly choices and technologies. We are thrilled with the progress made so far and have seen a 60% reduction in energy use.
